- ➤ A free Missouri Department of Conservation program helps experienced anglers improve their fishing skills and meet like-minded community members at Cape Girardeau Nature Center on Saturday, Jan. 31, from 2 to 5 p.m.+ Online registration opens Jan. 16 with sessions on fly casting and trout fishing near a stocked lake. - ➤ Southeast Missouri State University will host a free Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Dinner on January 21 starting at 6 p.m. at the University Center Ballroom (registration is required), featuring keynote speaker Adrian Taylor Jr., Th.D from Lighthouse United Church. KFVS12
- ➤ The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Foundation will host the free, family-friendly 2026 Cardinals Caravan on Monday, Jan. 19 with doors opening at 4:30 p.m. and a program at 5:30 p.m. that features players & alumni, door prizes, and autograph signings for the first 400 children. Fox 23
