- ➤ The Community Counseling Center Foundation will host the Superheroes Have a Heart for Kids Luncheon on Feb. 19 to raise funds for children’s mental health programs in its five-county service area; the event will feature a meal, mental health messaging, and raffle prizes. Fox 23
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Holland College of Arts and Media is inviting alumni, students and local community members to submit brief personal stories in honor of the River Campus 20th anniversary. Selected testimonials will be featured on the college website and in event materials. Fox 23
- ➤ The Missouri State Board of Education approved a recovery pilot program that may let Cape Girardeau Public Schools open a four-year recovery high school for students with substance disorders — pending school board approval, the program will launch in fall. KFVS12
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Missouri Department of Conservation expanded allowed equipment rules for 2026 coyote hunting on Jan. 1 through Sept. 30—excluding the spring turkey season. Hunters must follow that coyotes cannot be taken during daylight from April 1 until the day before turkey season begins. Fox 23
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Health officials advise residents to get the flu shot even though it does not cover the prevalent subclade K, because it trains the immune system. The vaccine is available at local pharmacies, health care providers & the Cape County Public Health Center at 1121 Linden St. KFVS12
