- ➤ Rotary Southeast Missouri Service is set to host its first annual cornhole tournament Saturday, March 7 at Cape Eagles Lodge — team registration opens at 11:30 a.m. with a $50 entry fee, and winners will receive cash prizes and unique trophies to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri. - ➤ On Saturday, Feb. 7, 150 residents took the Polar Plunge at Cape County Park North, raising over $60,000 for charity; donations continue and an invitational basketball tournament on Feb. 15 at SEMO Recreation Center and Osage Centre will show how the funds go. KFVS12
- ➤ Community Counseling Center Foundation will host the Superheroes Have a Heart for Kids Luncheon on Feb. 19 at 11:30 a.m. at Jackson Civic Center to raise funds for children’s mental health services, with tickets at $35 and proceeds supporting programs at its Cape Girardeau center (402 S. - ➤ SEMO REDI released a report showing that 50% of regional businesses invested, hired, or expanded in the past year amid a population decline. CEO Shad Burner said the findings give local business leaders data to drive economic growth. KFVS12

- ➤ Students learned about welding today at Cape Career and Technology Center during the 2026 Blue Collar Tour + the program from Wester Welding Academy in Wyoming will visit 30 schools and head to Baton Rouge tomorrow. KFVS12
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Sikeston DPS is raising funds to build a memorial chair for fallen officer Henry Franklin; the chair will be placed inside the department and a raffle for a signed guitar from Aaron Lewis is open via Facebook, according to Sgt. Tyler Rowe. Fox 23
- ➤ Jackson officials warned residents today about scam robocalls spoofing City Hall's number 573-243-3568. They stressed that city calls never ask for payment, gift cards, cryptocurrency or personal information and advised hanging up if a suspicious call comes in. Fox 23
- ➤ Starting Feb. 23, crews will overlay Route O from U.S. 61 to Route 32 with restrictions and guardrail upgrades, while teams in Stoddard County trim trees on Route ZZ and apply concrete patching on U.S. 45 (work began Feb. 9 and runs through Feb. 11); motorists should follow posted signs. Fox 23
