COMMUNITY NEWS

  • True-Que, a Black-owned barbecue spot at 402 Good Hope Street, has rebounded after a 2020 fire thanks to a local fundraiser. Owner Byron Bonner said the restaurant serves food and hope — a sign of neighbors helping each other.  KFVS12
  • Students from Lutheran schools packaged over 3,000 food and hygiene items (plus more than 100 pounds of dog food) in about 40 minutes for Street Level during National Lutheran Schools Week, a service project led by Trinity Lutheran School teachers.  Fox 23

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Conservation agents patrolled Current River in Ripley County to enforce gigging rules + remind anglers that only non-game fish like yellow sucker may be taken with a daily limit of 20 as the season ends at midnight Feb. 15.  Fox 23

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Missourians will prepare for a weather emergency during the statewide tornado drill on March 4 at 11 a.m. Participants will hear alerts from NOAA weather radios (set to routine weekly tests) and outdoor tornado sirens while heading to designated safe areas.  KFVS12

SPORTS NEWS

  • Two Cape Central students qualified for the state Special Olympics basketball tournament in March after winning medals at regionals. Their coach said the students' growth on and off the court (including improved teamwork) will help them in future events.  KFVS12
