- ➤ Cape Girardeau Firefighters Local 1084 announced the death of chaplain Pastor David Dissen on Feb. 19 after his battle with cancer; he served the department since 1993. Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn, with funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church. Fox 23

- ➤ Southeast Missouri State University business students are offering free tax return help for individuals filing Form 1040 in partnership with the IRS. The service is available by appointment from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays until April 11. KFVS12

- ➤ Perry County Commission issued a no burn advisory for all of Perry County due to severe drought conditions & forecasted winds, with the advisory in effect from Monday, Feb. 23 until further notice. Fox 23

- ➤ Valerie Hotop, FNP-BC, joined the Pain Management Center at Saint Francis Healthcare System (she holds a 2025 Maryville University degree and board certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center). The center offers individualized treatment for acute and chronic pain. Fox 23

- ➤ The new $40M Oasis Sports Complex in Marion will host nine NCAA Division II softball programs from Feb. 27 to Mar. 1. The three-day tournament features teams from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Kentucky + Wisconsin, with local players among the competitors, officials said. Fox 23
