  • The annual vendor meeting for the Cape Farmer’s Market is set to take place on March 19 at 6 p.m. at the Cape Girardeau Public Library (offering potential vendors a chance to learn market details and network with experienced sellers) before the market operates every Thursday from April to November at West Park Mall’s west parking lot.  KFVS12
  • Armstrong Outdoor Fest runs Feb. 27–Mar. 1 — a family event featuring live music, raffles and guest speakers in Cape Girardeau; admission is $10 while children 12 and younger attend for free.  Fox 23
  • Ember, a puppy rescued from a car fire in late January, reunited with the firefighters who saved him at Fire Station #1 on Wednesday, Feb. 25. Ember received lifesaving oxygen and care before being placed with a foster parent for ongoing recovery.  KFVS12

  • The Saint Francis Foundation is accepting applications for its 2026 Healthcare Scholarship Program for students pursuing healthcare careers—eligible applicants must reside in the service area and maintain a 3.0 GPA, with submissions due online by 5 p.m. on Friday, June 26 for over 20 awards including one offering $10,000.  Fox 23

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Experts warn that old lithium batteries must not be thrown away as Fire hazards occur daily. A national 'Skip the bin, turn your batteries in' campaign urges Cape Girardeau residents to bring used batteries to local drop-off sites — Staples, Lowes, and Walmart — for proper recycling.  Fox 23

  • New FCC changes from late 2025 bar new Chinese-made drone models, leaving local groups such as the Cape Girardeau Police Department using older DJI drones.
