- ➤ Kaylyn and Payton adopted Aloe from Southeast Missouri Pets in Cape Girardeau, and after a few days, the cat has become very snuggly in her new home. The shelter will host a Shelter Slumber Pawty from noon on April 5 until 9 a.m. on April 6 — a fundraiser with games, food, and activities for the community. KFVS12

- ➤ A 34-year-old man from Whitewater was seriously injured when his 1998 Chevrolet 3500 left Highway N—five miles west of Delta—around 6:20 p.m. on March 13 and was taken by Air EVAC to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. KFVS12

- ➤ Trussworks Jackson opened its new $5 million truss manufacturing facility on Cane Creek Road on March 5—14 employees have been hired so far and the company plans to add at least 50 jobs as it works with local contractors. Mayor Dwain Hahs said the project will boost city revenue to support essential services. The Cash-Book Journal

- ➤ Former Cape Girardeau County Coroner Wavis Jordan was found guilty on all four criminal charges on March 6+ he now faces sentencing on April 30 after being convicted on three felony counts for falsifying vital records and one misdemeanor for theft. The Cash-Book Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Jackson High School Concert Choir and Women’s Choir earned top honors at the MSHSAA State Large Ensemble Festival and Performance Assessment held Thursday at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus — both choirs received an Exemplary Rating, the highest possible score. Their achievement reflects the choir members’ hard work and commitment to meeting state performance standards. Fox 23

- ➤ Fire department members trained Monday at Station II—practicing vehicle extrications, primary searches, rescues and the use of thermal imaging cameras. The exercise took place in a simulated two-story home with obstacles built to mimic real emergencies. Fox 23

- ➤ Mercy Southeast has introduced Aquablation therapy to treat enlarged prostates using a waterjet technique with the HYDROS Robotic System — the first such treatment in the region. - ➤ The American Red Cross and Damion Crader’s family are hosting a blood drive on March 21 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Advance Methodist Church at 202 North Oak St to honor Crader—an 18-year-old who survived a serious car accident and needed 50 units of blood.
