ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A vehicle hit a fire hydrant at the corner of Morgan Oak and Benton Streets late Thursday night and left the scene, causing water to gush into nearby driveways and yards. KFVS12
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Smokin Brothers, a southeast Missouri-based pellet grill maker, will expand its manufacturing facility in Chaffee by investing $350,000 and creating five new jobs — the expansion adds new machinery and metal cutting capabilities with support from the Missouri Department of Economic Development. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Dozens of law enforcement vehicles responded at around midnight on March 14th at Southern Expressway near South Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau—officers from the police department and county sheriff’s office joined a fire truck and an ambulance at the scene. KFVS12
- ➤ A Perryville man, Jamond Rush, 31, was arrested in Cape Girardeau after officers responded to reports of shots fired at 3 a.m. on March 13—he faces a felony charge for unlawful possession of a firearm and is held on a $20,000 cash-only bond. KFVS12
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Molly Hatchet—a band known for Southern rock since the late 1970s—will play at Century Casino and Hotel Cape Girardeau on April 12. The all-ages show starts at 8 p.m. and will include hits like Flirtin’ with Disaster. Fox 23
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Mike Kehoe declared a state of emergency on Friday for Missouri as strong storms began hitting communities with risks of tornadoes, big hail, heavy rains, and floods until April 14th. He activated the Emergency Operations Plan — so state agencies can quickly help those affected. Fox 23
- ➤ Specialists began fixing Clarifier 1 at Cape Rock Water Treatment Plant on March 14th, 2025 (a key step to keep water ready for summer). City officials said engineers will check Clarifier 2 soon to see if it needs work (more upgrades are planned). KFVS12
