COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Thursday, a forest fire broke out near the 4000 block of County Road 318 in Gordonville just before midnight and burned nearly 2 acres. Three fire departments fought the blaze for nearly two and a half hours using 3,000 gallons of water, and no injuries or property damage were reported.  Fox 23

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighters from multiple departments in Cape Girardeau County put out a large fire from an unattended controlled burn on the 4000 block of County Road 318 that spread quickly because of heavy wind and threatened nearby buildings (crews worked for two and a half hours to stop the blaze) while officials urged residents not to burn on windy days (the incident caused minimal damage to woods and structures).  KFVS12

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Nearly 50 postal workers held an information rally Sunday afternoon in Cape Girardeau to warn that privatizing the postal service could change rural delivery—NALC leader Kraig Shafer said workers, including some retired military, worry that areas like Poplar Bluff will be affected.  KFVS12
