COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Cardwell community received a $1,500 grant from MFA Oil to buy new furniture for its recently updated community building for local activities. Officials said the funding will support ongoing services in the space. Fox 23
- ➤ TSA workers at Barkley Regional Airport continue to work without pay because of a federal funding lapse and 15 Paducah officers are now being aided by a community food drive. Local businesses, churches and groups are coming together to help cover everyday expenses like gas, childcare and food. Fox 23
- ➤ Families can join Cape Girardeau Police at the Badge of Hope Easter event featuring an egg hunt, bounce house, petting zoo, music, and refreshments. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 4 at the Police Department Substation, 629 Good Hope Street. KFVS12

- ➤ Rachael Leadbetter, COO and CFO at Cook, Barkett, Ponder & Wolz, earned the Crisp Experience MVP award at the Crisp ELEVATE Conference on Feb. 20 in Orlando, where she was honored for improving firm operations by implementing new hiring and client settlement systems. Fox 23

- ➤ SEMO will host its first-ever Young Writers’ Studio for high school students on Friday, April 10 at the Grauel Building and Rose Theater — the full-day event will include workshops, lunch and a public reading, with registration closing on March 30. KFVS12

- ➤ The City of Jackson will host an E-cycle day on June 6 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Jackson Recycling Center (510 Sawyer Lane). Residents and businesses can drop off old electronics and appliances to help reduce disposal costs and keep items out of landfills. KFVS12
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Missouri State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors revoked Butler County funeral director Andrew Trammel Moore's licenses after he provided false death certificate information + failed to file another, a move the board said violated state law and affected local families. Fox 23
- ➤ Scott County officials are working with regional agencies & the Sikeston Department of Public Safety to evaluate and fix tornado siren systems after a Diehlstadt resident reported backup failure during outages. They are using a USDA program and Table Rock Alerting Systems has offered a free fix while planning repairs. Fox 23
- ➤ Contractor crews will restrict northbound I-55 to one lane (15-foot width) in Scott County from April 10–17, and Route V in Stoddard County will close on April 6 from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; KY1128 in Fulton County will close on Mar. 30 for a two-day pipe replacement. Fox 23

- ➤ Families can receive free forensic interviews, medical and mental health services at KVC Missouri’s Ozark Foothills Child Advocacy Center, which supports 10 counties. The nonprofit will host its annual Go Blue Day luncheon on April 4 — an event that honors community partners for child abuse prevention efforts. KFVS12
- ➤ Local Dexter organizations are hosting fundraisers to support Sierra Greene, a mother battling stage 4 cancer with an estimated one-year prognosis, including spray tan specials at Beauty Room through March (a Confectionately Yours event is today) to help fund her planned trips with her children.
