CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Cape Girardeau police responded to a report of shots fired Friday afternoon on the 200 block of South Henderson Avenue with no injuries and no arrests — the investigation is ongoing. Fox 23
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe has appointed Amy Trueblood as Associate Circuit Judge for Cape Girardeau County in the 32nd Judicial Circuit. Trueblood earned her law degree from the University of Virginia and holds degrees from Harvard—she currently serves as a judicial law clerk in Cape Girardeau and is licensed to practice in Virginia, Illinois, and Missouri. - ➤ Missouri lawmakers are considering two bills to reform child sexual assault cases—one to ban nondisclosure agreements and the other to remove the statute of limitations—sponsored by Sen. Brad Hudson and Rep. Brian Seitz from Branson. A House committee has approved the measures and they now await review by a Senate committee. Fox 23
- ➤ The city said repairs to clarifier 1 at the Cape Rock Water Treatment Plant are complete and water quality remains excellent. City leaders will focus on preventative maintenance and long-term upgrades — a move needed after water production dropped in February. KFVS12

- ➤ Youth mental health services in southeast Missouri have been given nearly $48,000 in grants—$25,000 for a new peer-to-peer suicide prevention program in Perry and Jackson school districts and $22,975 for mental health events and counseling in Cape Girardeau Public Schools. Fox 23
