  • Caffeine enthusiasts will enjoy a tour of Cape Girardeau’s coffee, tea and chocolate vendors during Caffeinated in Cape on April 26. Participants will check in at Catapult SEMO (612 Broadway) to begin a self-guided tour and can buy tickets (general admission is $15 while VIP is $30 and comes with a coffee mug and coupons).  KFVS12

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Local leaders and SEMO students toured West Park Mall with Nick Martin — president of Pilot Construction Solutions — to see ongoing renovations and new store openings. Ulta will open on May 9 and PetSmart is set to open on April 24 as the mall continues its redevelopment.  KFVS12
  • The Small Business Development Center at Southeast Missouri State University will host seven free workshops for National Small Business Week from May 4-10 in Kennett, Dexter and online to help local business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs grow — covering topics like strategic growth, marketing, staffing, branding and AI integration. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Persistent spring rains have flooded low-lying roads in the Bootheel region near the Mississippi River, causing multiple closures and travel delays. MoDOT has placed barricades and skeleton crews are monitoring road conditions (driver safety is a top concern) to reopen routes once waters recede.  Fox 23

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, the Missouri House voted to advance HB 709 — known as Trey’s Law — to stop NDAs from preventing child sexual abuse victims from speaking out. The bill, filed by Rep. Brian Seitz, is expected to be voted on next week while a companion Senate measure has also gained support.  Fox 23

SPORTS NEWS

  • Notre Dame freshman Martina Ressel won the 800-meter dash at Cape Central Invitational with a personal-best time of 2:25.21 — finishing 6.77 seconds ahead of Harper Ellermeyer. She now aims to break school records — and is ranked in the top 10 for both the 1600 and 3200 at the Class 4 state level.  Fox 23
