- ➤ United Way of SEMO will hold a street party on April 25 at 16 N. Spanish St. to celebrate 70 years of giving, starting with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 3:45 p.m.—the event will offer free food, a DJ playing popular hits, dancing, games and activities for all ages. Fox 23
- ➤ The SEMO MS Community Walk will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 26 at Capaha Park Shelter #1 in Cape Girardeau as a fundraiser and awareness event for multiple sclerosis. - ➤ Firefighters went to the Rubbermaid plant (1901 Lee Ave) Tuesday morning when a paint cure oven caught fire but the flames stayed on the oven’s roof and mutual aid backed up the crew as they finished cleanup before noon. Fox 23

- ➤ Cape Girardeau police recovered a body from the Mississippi River near the Red Star Boat Ramp at around 9 a.m. on April 22nd— authorities have not identified the victim. KFVS12

- ➤ The Show Me Green Sales Tax Holiday exempts state sales tax on qualifying ENERGY STAR appliances and can save buyers up to $1,500 per new appliance until midnight April 25. - ➤ At its April 21 meeting, Cape Girardeau City Council passed a resolution to boost public safety as part of the Missouri Governor’s Blue Shield program (which offers $10 million in grants for training and gear).
