- ➤ Crews responded to reports of a capsized boat on the Mississippi River at the Red Star Boat Ramp — finding that no one was onboard as they headed back to shore. KFVS12
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ PetSmart will open a new store at 3049 William St. on Saturday, April 26 at 9 a.m. where pet owners can receive free goodie bags, and the 16,000‑square‑foot store — which will sell pet food, toys and offer grooming services as well as host pet adoptions through PetSmart Charities and local groups — is set to serve local needs. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Cape Girardeau officials announced that Cape Rock Drive will open on April 30 while Perryville Road between Lexington and Cape Rock will close with northbound lanes shutting on that day and southbound lanes from Lexington closing on May 1—most of the Lexington-Perryville intersection will close soon after except for southbound turns from Perryville; work will continue on Lexington between Perryville and Sherwood. This update comes as part of the Transportation Trust Fund projects. KFVS12
- ➤ Missouri lawmakers passed a bill to raise the legal marriage age to 18 after a heated debate, and the measure now awaits a final Senate vote to be sent to the governor—supporters say it will protect children from abuse by ending child marriage, which remains legal in 37 states. KFVS12
