- ➤ A shooting on May 9 left one person dead and another with a non-life-threatening leg wound in Cape Girardeau, and police later identified 27-year-old Deandra Leeann Patterson—charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful possession of a firearm while held on a $1 million cash-only bond. - ➤ Oak Ridge R-VI School locked down on Friday after a former student posted Spotify lyrics threatening to shoot students, and law enforcement took the student into custody while parents picked up their children at the office windows—no one was allowed inside. Fox 23
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Southeast Missouri State University Board of Governors approved a new 90-credit Bachelor of Science in criminal justice that lowers the credit requirement from 120 to 90 and integrates the Law Enforcement Academy Certificate as elective credit (minors remain optional).
