  • Water park Cape Splash marks 17 years this weekend and will run with new safety features, a fresh look, and a Chick-fil-A partnership available every day except Sundays. Gates open Saturday (11 a.m.) for visitors to enjoy improvements near the pirate ship and splash pad.  KFVS12
  • New sun shades + seating now offer visitors shade along the riverfront after a Community Improvement District-funded project led by Old Town Cape installed features just south of Independence Street floodgates yesterday.  KFVS12

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighters from Dexter and nearby towns responded on Sunday evening to a fire at Lemons Landfill (arriving at 5:05 p.m.) and cleared the scene (by 1:15 a.m.).  Fox 23

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Whitewater Fire Protection District seeks volunteers with no experience required; interested applicants must be 18 (pass a background check, have a valid driver's license, and live within 10 miles) and can contact the department via Facebook or call 573-794-9059.  Fox 23

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Gibson Center for Behavioral Change is recruiting adults with opioid challenges for a national study testing Tirzepatide (a weight-loss drug) to see if it boosts recovery by reducing cravings and improving sleep. This free program, part of a federally funded trial, seeks local participants for better treatment insights.  KFVS12
