- ➤ The Zonta Club of Cape Girardeau will host its annual run/walk event on June 14 at Arena Park — the new 10K kicks off at 8 a.m. and the 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run start at 8:15 a.m. — with proceeds going toward empowering women through service and advocacy. Fox 23
- ➤ On May 19, 7 Brew Coffee in Sikeston held a ribbon-cutting ceremony—presenting a check for $10,893.25 to the Kenny Rogers Foundation. Fox 23
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A powerful EF-3 tornado struck Scott County on May 16, destroying homes and killing two people while many lost power, and local groups are setting up donation drop-offs at Travelers Rest Church and CB Fitness until May 21 + supplies include water, non-perishable food, and hygiene items. Fox 23
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Police are investigating after vehicles and homes on Bloomfield Rd. were damaged by gunfire on May 18—officers responded around 7 p.m. and collected evidence of two vehicles and two homes being hit—suspects left before officers arrived. KFVS12
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Multiple tornadoes swept through Missouri and Illinois today—an EF2 tornado in Cape Girardeau County damaged a home and outbuildings while an EF3 tornado in eastern Stoddard County caused two deaths and injured ten people. Additional tornadoes in Missouri, Illinois, and Kentucky damaged garages, trees, and power poles. Fox 23
