- ➤ Sheri L. Reeves, a 55-year-old woman from Kennett, Missouri, was sentenced on Tuesday, May 27 to 15 months in prison and ordered to pay $565,000 in restitution to Bank of America—she will also face five years of supervised release for acting as a money mule who transferred fraudulently obtained funds in 2020. - ➤ Police are investigating a shooting that damaged a city utility pole near Locust Street and Ranney Avenue when officers responded at about 10:30 p.m. on May 26—no arrests have been made. KFVS12

- ➤ Cape Girardeau Public Library is offering its Color Our World summer program to keep children engaged with science, creativity and movement — kids ages one to 13 who sign up before June 7 are entered to win Cape Splash season passes and registration starts May 27 in person or online. KFVS12

- ➤ Governor Mike Kehoe announced a special legislative session scheduled for June 2 to address storm damage, economic development, and budget appropriations using proposals for disaster relief — including tax deductions and expanded funding for affordable housing. He also plans to support projects in sports and entertainment facilities along with university research funding. Fox 23
- ➤ The Cape Girardeau City Council will consider a resolution today that lets the city manager recommend American Airlines for service at Cape Regional Airport. American Airlines has proposed six round-trip flights to Dallas-Fort Worth and six to O’Hare per week via 65-seat aircraft—if approved, the city must send its recommendation to the DOT by May 30 as the current contract expires Oct. 1.
