- ➤ On Thursday, May 28, the Cape Area Community Foundation awarded five grants to nonprofits in southeast Mo. (supporting outreach, legal aid, suicide prevention and school programs) and will offer more grants this fall. KFVS12
- ➤ Cape Girardeau will host America’s 250th Flag Day block party event on Sunday, June 14 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 401 Independence St. The free community event will include historical presentations (such as on the American Dream and Revolutionary War roots), live performances, displays and local activities. - ➤ Kristen Daniel, corporate HR director at Havco, joined the Southeast Missouri Food Bank board—she brings strong HR skills and community experience from volunteer work and local business groups. Fox 23

- ➤ Cape Folk Fest returns on Saturday, June 6 at The Forge Cape on Morgan Oak St. The free event offers folk art demos, history talks and live music starting at 4 p.m. plus a tie dye booth will be available if weather permits. KFVS12

- ➤ AAA Missouri reported that gas prices dropped statewide on Thursday, May 28, with regular unleaded averaging $4.10 per gallon (down 10 cents from last week and $1.24 above last year's level). Jefferson City drivers paid the highest prices at $4.19, while Joplin drivers paid $3.85 amid lower crude oil prices. Fox 23
