- ➤ Yesterday, gamers from across the region gathered in Cape Girardeau for the second annual Heartland Gaming Convention where over 300 board games and interactive activities brought people together—organizers plan monthly public gaming events to build lasting community ties. Fox 23
- ➤ Dozens of families enjoyed the Summer Bash event today at Shawnee Park Center and Jefferson pool—children played with water balloons, created chalk art on the parking lot, and swam for free. Coordinator Dionne Hoffmeister said parents were required to stay with their children to promote family time. KFVS12

- ➤ Fire crews from local fire departments extinguished an air conditioner fire Sunday night in the weight room at Naylor-R2 School District—firefighters removed part of a wall and charred ceiling to ventilate the gym and prevent further damage. KFVS12

- ➤ The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri will host Rock the Heartland: Battle of the Bands on August 29-30 at Scout Hall in Cape Girardeau for local student bands and solo performers to compete for a chance to play at a Cardinals game and receive a professional video session—entries are due by July 25 with a $25 fee.
