- ➤ Cape Girardeau Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #3775 announced a charity golf tournament to benefit Make+A+Wish and honor incoming Grand Worthy President John Boyd. The event will be held on August 22 at Bent Creek Golf Course at 8:00 a.m. with a fee of 75 dollars per team member. KFVS12

- ➤ The local Pizza Hut in Dexter is drawing customers back with a retro remodel that features checkered tablecloths, stained-glass lamps and classic red cups for a taste of nostalgia. - ➤ Chance Ziegler was promoted to field director of the Scouting America Council effective June 1, overseeing staff in 30 counties including Cape Girardeau and Herrin. He helped grow local Scouting from 399 to 1,200 youth, leveraging 23 years of experience (as a lifelong Scouter). KFVS12

- ➤ Putz Construction begins an emergency storm sewer replacement on Otto Drive on June 8 after a sinkhole formed, closing parts of Otto Drive and Old Cape Road; Missouri DOT crews will limit Route M to local traffic from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Tuesday and Wednesday). Fox 23
- ➤ The Committee for a Stronger Jackson is hosting a campaign kickoff for a tourism initiative set to appear on the August 4 ballot; the event is on Wednesday, June 3 at 5:30 p.m. (Iron Mountain Railway during the Food Truck Rally) where residents can learn how a 5% lodging tax will boost local tourism and business.
