ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Three firefighters were injured while battling a large commercial fire in Uptown Jackson, with one hospitalized and more than 60 firefighters from 12 departments working at the scene. High Street is closed and authorities ask the public to stay clear so crews can continue fighting the blaze. Fox 23
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Officer Rodney Jackson of the Caruthersville Police Department intercepted a wrong-way driver on I-155 early this morning and his quick action protected drivers and prevented injuries—while the Missouri State Highway Patrol investigates the incident. Fox 23
- ➤ Cape Girardeau Police responded early Thursday morning, June 5 to the 400 block of South Spring Street when one shot fired inside an apartment went through a wall into a neighboring unit—no injuries were reported and the suspect fled the scene. KFVS12
- ➤ Police say two suspects were taken into custody after an assault on the 1200 block of Bloomfield Road on June 4—when one suspect allegedly pointed a gun at the victim in Cape Girardeau. KFVS12
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Missouri State Highway Patrol completed its annual school bus inspections today and approved 10,144 buses while rating 799 as defective and taking 312 out of service for safety issues. The patrol inspected 11,255 buses overall — awarding the Total Fleet Excellence award to 297 school districts. Fox 23
- ➤ The Cape Girardeau Professional Firefighters union demanded that the city resume contract talks after three years without a deal because the delay risks public safety and makes it hard to keep experienced firefighters—prompting an urgent call for negotiations. Fox 23
