- ➤ Meet the Need, Inc. will host an open house on June 17 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 700 W. Marshall St. in Charleston to showcase its new Work Skills Training and Education Program — funded by a $2.5 million federal grant and offering free courses in forklift operation, CDL classes, shipyard welding and computer software development to residents in 11 southeastern Missouri counties. - ➤ The U.S. Small Business Administration is offering low-interest disaster relief loans to Missouri non-profit organizations affected by severe storms from March 30 to April 8 — eligible groups may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged assets. Applicants must apply online or by phone before deadlines of July 22 for physical damage loans and February 23 for economic injury loans. KFVS12
- ➤ A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will close KY 166 near its junction with KY 1125 beginning today for new bridge construction near Fulton County—in Cape Girardeau, crews will maintain Bloomfield Road from Monday, June 23 until Thursday, June 26 and Dunklin County will see one-lane traffic on Route 412 overnight from June 16 until July 11 for asphalt resurfacing. - ➤ Cape Girardeau firefighters have worked without a contract for 1012 days, raising public safety concerns. The department lost veteran firefighter Donnie Shaw—who resigned over stalled contract talks—and the union set a deadline for elected officials to begin negotiations under Missouri law. Fox 23

- ➤ Missouri will observe World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on June 15 to raise attention to the abuse, neglect and exploitation of older adults—state officials reported over 41,000 cases were investigated last year and urged anyone with concerns to report them via the state hotline. Fox 23
