GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Individuals and organizations planning to operate fireworks stands must obtain a $25 County Merchant License at the Collector’s Office in Jackson or Cape Girardeau during office hours (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday–Friday) — the stands can operate from June 20 to July 10 and owners must also secure a state license by contacting the Division of Fire Safety in Jefferson City. - ➤ At Monday's meeting, County Emergency Management and commissioners approved Arbor Masters' bid for $259,048 — the lowest of four bids — to remove storm debris from a Delta site and re-rock a parking lot, with FEMA set to reimburse at least 75% though full funding is not guaranteed this fiscal year.
