- ➤ Fire crews responded to a commercial fire alarm at Hardee’s at 421 E. Jackson Blvd. on Wednesday at 12:59 p.m. and quickly extinguished a small electrical fire on the roof — the health department will inspect the restaurant before it can reopen. Fox 23
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On June 11, Frederick Stecz blocked a woman from entering her apartment when she complained about loud noises and he brandished a machete—police arrested him at 8:15 p.m. and charged him with a felony for unlawful use of a weapon and a misdemeanor for second-degree harassment, with a $15,000 cash bond. - ➤ A new Smithsonian exhibit called Voices and Votes: Democracy in America opened at Malone Park Center for the Arts in Sikeston to show how the 1939 sharecroppers strike brought tenant farmers together—its display uses local history to explain ongoing economic challenges and will run until July 22.
