Good morning, Cape Girardeau.
💼 Business
After a fire at around 8 p.m. on July 5 forced Yummy Buffet to close, owner Sam Zhang said the restaurant reopened for normal business hours on Sunday (July 13) after cleanup and safety checks revealed smoke and flames.
🏛️ Government
Voters in Cape Girardeau will decide on August 5 whether to raise the water and sewer rate cap from 5% to 15% to fund needed upgrades for the water treatment system—this change may boost bills by about $4.71 per month for an average household.
The extra funds, following a recent $9 million improvement, will support further expansion of the Cape Rock Water Treatment Plant as the city grows.
