  • Old Town Cape, Inc. will host its annual Revivify fundraiser on Sept. 21 from 3 to 7 p.m. on Spanish Street in downtown Cape Girardeau as local chefs Dewayne Schaaf, Gabriele Ruggieri and Doc Cain prepare a four-course meal with live music by Joy Brooker; tickets go on sale July 31 for $100 and proceeds will support downtown growth.  Fox 23
  • The Southeast Missouri Food Bank scheduled mobile food pantries across Cape, New Madrid, Pemiscot and Scott counties this week — the New Madrid event took place on July 21, the Hayti event is today at 3 p.m. and events in Cape and Scott counties will run on July 26 and July 25 respectively, where residents can get food assistance.  Fox 23

CRIME NEWS

  • A home on the 1400 Block of Whitener Street was hit by gunfire early Monday morning, July 21 — no injuries were reported and police are investigating the shooting.  KFVS12
  • Police responded to an armed robbery report at a business in the 2800-block of Themis on Saturday morning—arriving around 12:15 a.m.—and spoke with the victim who said the suspect entered the business, pointed a firearm at an employee, and demanded cash with no injuries reported as the investigation continues.  Fox 23
  • A 53-year-old Carter County man was sentenced on July 21 to 30 years in federal prison for producing over 100 child sexual abuse images between February and November 2023 in Cape Girardeau — federal prosecutors confirmed the images involved victims aged three and four.  KFVS12
  • Police responded to reports of shots fired early Saturday morning in the 0-100 block of N. Main (Cape Girardeau) after a witness said a male suspect fired one shot at another person with both leaving the scene before officers arrived and no injuries or property damage being reported.  Fox 23
  • Authorities warn that an individual posing as a DIRECTV representative is going door-to-door in the Malden area to lower bills but is not linked to DIRECTV or Dish Network - residents should not provide personal information or money and must report any encounters immediately by calling 573-888-2424 or 573-888-2409 with any vehicle details noted if available.  Fox 23
  • Cape Girardeau Police reported an armed robbery at a local business on the 2800 block of Themis Street at 12:15 a.m. on July 20, where a suspect pointed a gun to demand cash and left with an unknown amount — the investigation remains ongoing.  KFVS12

  • The Thrillbillies will host a Fan Appreciation Night on July 27 at Mtn Dew Park for their final home game this season, offering $8 tickets in exchange for a canned food donation. Integrity Roofing will match each donation 1:1 to help local food banks and the game against the Alton River Dragons will begin at 3:30 p.m.—fans can also enjoy giveaways and a special announcement.  Fox 23
