- ➤ Cape Girardeau residents can attend a back-to-school bash at the 4-H building at 410 Kiwanis Drive on Sunday, August 17 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.—the event offers free food, haircuts, retwists, simple braid styles, door prizes and more on a first-come, first-served basis—with the condition that hair must be clean and blown out if needed. - ➤ Missouri State University's efactory and codefi unveiled the Show-Me Network to support entrepreneurs and small businesses statewide by connecting local groups with mentors and capital resources — regional partners like the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce will deliver tailored programs to bridge rural and urban gaps. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Madison Snyder, owner of Grateful Headz on Broadway Street, said her store was broken into at 11:30 p.m. and security cameras captured images of two suspects—she said no one was hurt and she will boost security while asking the community for help. Fox 23
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ A music festival will be held on Saturday, August 23 at the Jackson Civic Center in southeast Missouri—organizers from the Cape Girardeau County Historical Society say families will enjoy live music, arts and craft vendors and food trucks from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The free event features several local and regional acts scheduled throughout the day. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A section of eastbound Route 72 from Lee Avenue to Route 61 in Cape Girardeau County will be reduced to let crews replace concrete overnight from Sept. 5—8. Weather permitting, work will occur nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.—the project includes improvements in front of Rally’s on W. Jackson Blvd. Fox 23
