- ➤ The 2nd Annual Bags & Badges Cornhole Tournament is set for August 23 at Wings Etc. Grill & Pub in Jackson, with registration beginning at 11:30 a.m. and the event starting at 1 p.m.—teams enter for a $50 fee while cash prizes, unique trophies, and basket raffles are offered. Fox 23
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Freshmen students at SEMO began moving into dorm rooms today at Dobbins, LaFerla, Towers West and Vandiver Halls, and teams of upperclassmen helped them move in. Later, students assigned to Merick, Towers East, Towers North and Towers South will check in at the Show Me Center before moving in—returning students started moving in August 8. KFVS12

- ➤ Today the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport is waiting on a DOT bid decision on its airline contract, and the DOT has extended Contour Airlines' service through Nov. 30 to let passengers continue booking flights. Airport Manager JoJo Stuart said passenger numbers increased by 30% in recent months—raising concerns that delays may drive travelers to choose other airports if new airline options are not available. - ➤ Representative John Voss and Senator Jamie Burger attended an appreciation dinner and toured the LifeHouse facility Tuesday evening—where the program provides housing, medical care, education, counseling and practical resources for pregnant women.
