- ➤ Cape Girardeau police are investigating a vehicle hit by gunfire at around 4:20 a.m. on Sunday, September 7 — the victim said he saw multiple gunshots and damage to his car with no other injuries or property damage reported. KFVS12

- ➤ After years of planning and fundraising, volunteers broke ground today for an outdoor pavilion at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau—construction will start next week and finish in 2026. The $650,000 project will give veterans a space to meet with family. KFVS12
- ➤ Shovels hit dirt today at the Missouri Veterans’ Home in Cape Girardeau as officials break ground for a new pavilion that will offer residents and their families a welcoming outdoor space. The project will start next week and is expected to be finished by the end of February with a cost of about $650,000—funded by donations from neighbors, a local bank, and an estate. Fox 23
