- ➤ Construction is underway on Shawnee Park Sports Complex in Cape Girardeau — crews are ahead of schedule thanks to nice weather. The facility will include five regulation softball/baseball fields with 250-foot fences and 10 turf fields covering the area. KFVS12
- ➤ The Marine Toys for Tots drive for Southeast Missouri is underway—residents can drop off new, unwrapped toys at Police Headquarters at 2530 Maria Louise Lane through Dec 12 to help bring holiday cheer to local children. Fox 23
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Missouri soybean farmers are struggling with low prices as China stopped buying U.S. soybeans, leaving many in a tough spot this harvest season. An aid package is set to be announced tomorrow — but farmers remain unsure if it will fix the market downturn. Fox 23
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On Sunday, St. Vincent Catholic Schools in Perryville held its annual Blessing of the Pets where students and families gathered on the practice field for a ceremony honoring St. Francis of Assisi — each pet received a blessing. School officials thanked the community for supporting the joyful tradition. Fox 23
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Monday the Supreme Court refused to revive a controversial Missouri law that would bar police from enforcing federal gun laws lacking matching state rules—keeping the law blocked as lower courts ruled it violated the Supremacy Clause. The measure imposed $50,000 fines on officers and strained state and federal relations. KFVS12
