COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Hundreds gathered at Shawnee Park Friday for Project Hope 2025 where over 50 organizations provided clothing, cleaning products, medical services and legal help for Missouri IDs. Community Partnership workers said rising costs and larger family sizes have increased demand—and they are already planning next year’s event.  KFVS12
  • Care to Learn invites the community to join its Rock ’n’ Roll Blacklight Bingo event on October 25 at Osage Centre (1625 N. Kingshighway St.) where doors open at 5 p.m. and bingo starts at 7 p.m.; tickets cost $40 per person or $280 for a table of eight.  Fox 23

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Amazon announced plans to open four new last-mile delivery facilities in Scott City, Brookfield, Sedalia, and Maryville by the end of the year, which will create over 150 jobs while speeding up deliveries—part of a $4 billion investment in Missouri. The new sites are expected to boost local economies and provide more opportunities in operations and logistics.  Fox 23

CRIME NEWS

  • BackStoppers is now assisting the family of Sikeston Public Safety Officer Henry Franklin who was fatally shot on Oct. 6 while responding to a barricaded suspect; he served since 2013 and is survived by his wife, children, and extended family.  Fox 23

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Beginning Monday, Oct. 13, a KYTC contractor will close KY 123 near Hickman County to replace a bridge over Little Cypress Creek and the Crittenden County Road Department will close Youth Camp Road for repairs so local drivers must use nearby access roads. Southbound Interstate 55 in Cape Girardeau County will be reduced to one lane for pavement repairs from Oct. 27 through Oct. 31—motorists are urged to use caution as routes are altered.  Fox 23

HEALTH NEWS

  • Saint Francis Healthcare System announced that Wendi Beussink, APRN, FNP-C; Abby R. Ritter, MD; and Grace J. Gwaltney, PA-C have joined its Emergency Department and Cape Trauma Specialists. The center treats nearly 38,000 patients yearly and is the only state-designated Level III trauma center in southeast Missouri—providing critical care for severe injuries around the clock.  Fox 23
