- ➤ During a round-up campaign from September 17th to 30th, Schnucks customers in Missouri donated $108,264 to United Way—ensuring all funds supported local chapters. The 2025 campaign total will be announced in the coming weeks. KFVS12
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The VintageNOW cast and crew will perform 'Thriller on Themis' this Thursday along Themis Street (spectators must arrive early to secure a spot). The production will be led by director Deb Boyer Maevers (with Kirby Ray hosting from Real Rock 99.3). Fox 23
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Notre Dame Regional High School announced on October 28 that it will add a football program and is accepting applications for a new coach. The school will start its junior varsity team in 2027 and varsity team in fall 2028 plus launch a marching band to expand student opportunities. Fox 23
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Members of the Randolph County Critical Incident Committee and the Prairie du Rocher Fire Department held active shooter incident management training yesterday at the fire department to improve multi-agency coordination and response; Maeystown firefighters also participated in the exercises. - ➤ The U.S. Small Business Administration will open a disaster loan outreach center in Jackson to help Cape Girardeau County residents and businesses apply for low interest disaster loans following a Presidential Disaster Declaration. The center at the Jackson Chamber of Commerce at 1846 East Jackson Blvd. opens today at 1 p.m.—it will operate Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. KFVS12
- ➤ North Marion Street in Cape Girardeau will be resurfaced from Main Street to Chestnut Street starting Thursday, October 30 and ending November 3, weather permitting—residents must move parked vehicles and plan alternate routes. Northbound Interstate 55 in Pemiscot County will have a lane reduced to one with a 10 feet wide restriction from mile marker 26 to 28 from November 12 to November 14 daily from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Fox 23

- ➤ The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services said Governor Mike Kehoe signed a proclamation declaring October as Let’s Talk Month to help adults talk with teens about health and well-being. The program provides a Connect with Me app and card set that offer conversation starters on topics such as body image, mental health and relationships. KFVS12
