- ➤ Young hunters in Missouri harvested 18,706 deer during last weekend's early firearms youth portion—Franklin county led with 390 deer, Howell had 389 and Pike 366, while 11-year-old Owen Morrison of Benton bagged a buck on opening morning at Peck Ranch Conservation Area with help from his father and a conservation agent. - ➤ The American Red Cross is recruiting new Disaster Action Team volunteers and will host a training session on Saturday, Nov 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at its chapter office at 20 S. Mount Auburn Road — lunch is provided for participants from Cape Girardeau and nearby areas. Fox 23
- ➤ SEMO Food Bank announced it will double mobile food pantry operations in November to help families facing hardship from SNAP disruptions — each mobile unit will deliver about 6,000 pounds of food to support roughly 200 families. Fox 23

- ➤ Missouri's National Veterans Memorial will dedicate its newest campus expansion on Tuesday, November 11, at 11 a.m. at 1172 Veterans Memorial Parkway in Perryville—new sidewalks will lay the foundation for future monuments honoring veterans. Fox 23
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services issued a statewide warning about 7-OH, a chemical made from kratom that can cause overdose, addiction, and other health problems. Health officials noted that hospital visits and poison control calls nearly doubled from last year—prompting the agency to advise citizens to avoid products with 7-OH—until more safety information is available. - ➤ Nonprofit behavioral health provider Brightli merged with Centerstone and will rebrand its area subsidiaries as Centerstone over the next 14 months—local care services remain unchanged. The combined organization will serve about 250,000 people annually. KFVS12
- ➤ A free conference to help families care for loved ones with Alzheimer’s will be held Friday, November 7 at Buckner-Ragsdale Event Center (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) to provide caregiving tips and strategies for managing holiday challenges. Program manager Lydia Hess said the event will cover topics such as building caregiving foundations and effective communication for those with dementia. KFVS12
