- ➤ Amid the government shutdown, Pastor Bob Lenz at Restoration Community Church in Scott City is opening the church as an overnight warming center available from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. on cold nights when temperatures drop below 25 with no precipitation or below 32 with precipitation — he is asking local groups to help with donations and volunteer rides. - ➤ Menards home improvement stores in our region are hosting a toy drive drop-off for new, unwrapped toys until Dec. 15 to help children in need. The store also invites families to enjoy the Enchanted Forest holiday display—an old tradition with decorated trees, colorful lights, and festive sights. Fox 23
- ➤ Harps Food Stores in Jackson is helping families affected by SNAP delays by offering blessing bags of nonperishable food items (canned green beans, corn, soups, tuna, and more). General manager Kevin Groves said customers can add a ($10 or $20 bag) to their purchase, with each bag donated to a local food bank. KFVS12
- ➤ A Christmas toy drive is underway at Menards stores across the Heartland — including Cape Girardeau, Farmington, Marion, Mount Vernon, Paducah and Poplar Bluff — where new unwrapped toys are collected through December 15. The donated toys will be given to a local organization for distribution. KFVS12
