COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Little Kitchen, which has served Cape residents for 10 years, will close its doors on November 15th — with Zia’s Indian Cuisine set to take over its space and continue serving the community.  KFVS12
  • Spectrum Record Lounge will host its 'Karaoke for a Cause' event on Nov. 15 with a $5 minimum donation & extra contributions benefiting the Southeast Missouri Food Bank's fight against hunger in the region.  Fox 23

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Trinity Lutheran School teacher Ashley Kelley was named one of the 2025 McDonald's Outstanding Educators by Hilburn-Vaini McDonald's. School team members visited to present her with a certificate and gift card in recognition of her commitment to students.  Fox 23
  • Notre Dame Regional High School will host its 29th annual Crafts, Gifts and Collectibles Show from Friday Nov 21 to Sunday Nov 23 to support the school’s Performing and Visual Arts Departments—over 200 vendors will be in the main gym, King Hall, and Drury Hall with a refreshment stand provided. Admission is $4 on Friday and Saturday and free on Sunday—Santa Claus will visit on Sunday at 1 p.m. for photo opportunities.  Fox 23
  • On November 12, the Missouri Department of Transportation will host its 22nd Annual Bridge Building Competition at Southeast Missouri State University's Academic Hall for high school juniors and seniors, where participants will build bridges with balsa wood, string and glue. Doors open at 8 a.m. and competition begins at 9 a.m. - winners will earn scholarships of about $1,000 and cash prizes for the top five schools.  KFVS12

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • FEMA announced that Disaster Recovery Centers will open in Dunklin, Reynolds and Stoddard counties from today through November 8 to help people whose homes were damaged by severe storms from March 30 to April 8. Affected residents can get help with their FEMA applications + speak with state or federal officials at the centers.  KFVS12
  • The Millersville Fire Department has partnered with the Missouri Department of Conservation to use nearly three acres along State Highway BB for training and to build permanent Fire Station #4. Construction and development planning will proceed in phases, with the first phase preparing the land for training over the next year—ensuring the project benefits public fire prevention and land conservation.  KFVS12
  • On Wednesday, Missouri officials from the Department of Social Services issued partial SNAP benefits after USDA guidance so that families could have food until full funding is restored – DSS employees worked with vendors to ensure prompt processing and continue to work with community partners to fill the benefit gap.  KFVS12
  • The Missouri Department of Transportation is reducing Route A to one lane from Route 61 to County Road 234 near New Hamburg for pavement repairs that will run from today until Nov. 12 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.—signs mark the work zone and urge motorists to use caution. An active work zone near I-24 Exit 27 caused overnight closures last night and will require detours tonight for eastbound traffic—law enforcement and flaggers will guide drivers along the detour route.  Fox 23
