COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ EBO MD is hosting a food drive and fundraiser to support local families by collecting non-perishable food for the Southeast Missouri Food Bank and raising funds for United Way of SEMO. The event will run through Nov. 25 at four clinics, with a live River Radio broadcast at the Cape Girardeau clinic from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 25 — new memberships will also help fund local programs. - ➤ Old Town Cape, Inc. will host the 33rd Annual Parade of Lights on Nov. 30 at 5 p.m. in Cape Girardeau—this year’s theme is Charlie Brown Christmas and the parade will feature holiday floats, festive music and appearances by Santa and Mrs. Claus. Fox 23
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Students from the Dobbins Conservatory of Theatre and Dance at SEMO will perform Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night at Rust Flexible Theatre on SEMO’s River Campus. The play will be shown on Thursday, November 20th at 7:30 p.m., Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, November 23rd — with tickets priced from $26 to $30. KFVS12
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Twin Rivers High School won a nationwide contest after rallying community votes and secured a $50K grant which it will use to design the Holly Johnson Library in honor of its late librarian, who passed away on the first day of classes (the project is in its planning stage). KFVS12
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The U.S. Small Business Administration announced that low-interest federal disaster loans became available to small businesses and nonprofits in the Heartland affected by drought starting September 16 — the loans offer rates of 4% for small businesses and 3.625% for nonprofits. Eligible groups in counties including Cape Girardeau can use the funds for fixed debts, payroll, or bills as they submit applications before May 22. KFVS12

- ➤ Southern Illinois Healthcare has added two new specialists to its care team; Dr. Ibrahim Omore — a cancer doctor, and Dr. Klaorat Prasongdee — an endocrinologist, are now accepting patients. Fox 23
