CULTURE NEWS

  • Saint Francis Healthcare System will host its seventh annual outdoor Live Nativity on December 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Cancer Institute Entrance 6—volunteers will portray biblical figures with live animals such as cows, camels, four-horn sheep, and a donkey—and parking is available nearby.  Fox 23

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Former SEMO professor Dr. Linda Heitman created a national online program on organ donation training that has reached over 5,000 nursing students. The program—funded by Mid-America Transplant and launched as a pilot in spring—includes five modules with quizzes, videos, interviews and discussion forums to prepare future nurses for their role in the donation process.  Fox 23

HEALTH NEWS

  • Missouri officials urged horse owners to quarantine and monitor their animals if they attended an event in Waco from November 5–9 or a barrel racing event in Guthrie, where Equine Herpes cases were found. They advised working with a veterinarian to check for signs of illness—no cases have been reported in Missouri.  Fox 23

  • The 2026 St. Louis Cardinals Caravan will stop at the Osage Community Center in Cape Girardeau on Monday, January 19 at 5:30 p.m.—offering free autographs, photo opportunities, and ticket giveaways for kids while the list of players and coaches has not yet been released.  KFVS12
  • Students & staff at Perry County School District 32 lined the campus Wednesday to send off the Perryville Pirates for their state semifinal match in Fenton; a break in the rain allowed a brief team parade & send-off before departure.  Fox 23
